01. Your Brand Identity Workbook.

Review your workbook and dive in to completing it. It can take one day or two weeks but answer all the questions and really put some thought into your responses. This is the most important step of building your brand. Knowing why you started your business and for who is just the beginning. Thing about the emotion you want to invoke in clients or customers. Focus on adjectives that really describe your brand and your ideal client. Writing all of this out will be your blueprint for your brand that you can go back to, update as needed, and use as your guide.

02. Let’s talk colors!

Color has an impact on how we think and behave. Color directs our eye where to look, what to do, and how to interpret something. It puts content into context. It helps us decide what’s important and what’s not. That’s precisely why, you need to understand what colors mean to people.

Let’s keep in mind that the psychological impact of color is subjective. We don’t all react the same way to colors, as we all have previous experiences with colors from significant events, cultures, people, and memories. However, there are a few generalities about how people respond to color, and that’s what we focus on.

Now that you’re thinking about color, pull out your color cards. Look at the various colors and choose a few that are your favorites. Overlay them to see if your colors compliment each other or if you should continue to look for more colors. Lay your colors on your style guide to visualize the beginning of your brand identity.

03. Using your style guide.

Now that you know what adjectives describe your brand, you can take those words and pull in color psychology. Choose colors that represent those adjectives and pull out those colors from your color cards. Place those colors on your style guide. Now you have color inspiration. They may not all compliment each other just yet but it will come together. Next we suggest you begin building a mood board. Review magazines, Pinterest boards, google search, and pull images that give the feels of the brand identity you’ve just thought out. Cut out those images and place them on your style guide. Lastly, search through typeface sites to see all the many fonts that are out there. See what fonts stand out to you. This will give you an idea of the look and shape and feel you’d like to see in your future logo. You now have the foundation for your brand. Next steps are to work with a graphic designer to bring the logo to life. One that represents your brand as you’ve outlined it. Your graphic designer will be grateful!
